The American Flag By Mrs. P. This is the American flag. It is an important symbol of freedom in the United States of America. The American flag flies in front of libraries. The American flag flies in front of schools. The American flag flies in front of post offices. The American flag is even on the moon! On June 14 1777 Congress passed the Flag Act making it the official flag of the USA. The colors of the American flag are red white is blue. The American flag has 13 red and white stripes. The 13 stripes symbolize the original 13 states. The American flag has 50 white stars on a blue background. There are 50 stars to represent each of the 50 states. Many people stand and say the Pledge of Allegiance to honor the freedoms we have in the USA. We have a special holiday to celebrate the American flag on June 14th. This holiday is Flag Day. You will also see lots of American flags on the 4th of July! The American flag is an important American symbol.
