Multiple Meaning Words Words can have more than one meaning...a band is a music group... ...or a band can be a tie around something...like a deck of cards. A band can also be a ring such as a wedding ring. Bark has a couple different meanings too. It can refer to the sound a dog makes. Bark can also refer to the outside covering on a tree trunk. Sometimes a base means a cushion in a baseball diamond. Other times a base is the bottom or foundation of a statue or a building. Here a basket means to score by throwing the ball through the hoop. And here a basket means a container woven out of wood fibers or cane. A calf is a baby or young cow. We can also say calf to mean the lower fleshy back part of our leg. In sports when an official makes a ruling we refer to that as a call. But a call can also mean speaking to someone who is away from us in person or on the phone. A club can be something used to hit something such as this golf club. A club is a group of people meeting together (e.g. rocket club). A dress is a piece of clothing for a girl or woman. When we put a bandage on a cut we dress the wound. An eye is something we see with. An eye is also a hole in a needle that the thread goes through. The front of a person's head is their face. The front of a clock is a face too. When we turn the front of our bodies to someone we face them. A foot is a body part we walk on. A foot on a ruler is 12 inches. Glasses can be something we wear to help us see... ...or something to drink out of. Hatch refers to an animal coming out of an egg. Hatch refers to a small door on a ship train a car. Match means to put two or more identical things together. Match also means a paper or wood stick for lighting fires. Meet refers to a sporting event such as a track meet ...or when people get together. Thank you for reading this book!!
